This is a Standard "Field" Grade gun chambered for 20-gauge shells and wears 28-inch barrels. Overall condition is excellent and this is a solid, attractive gun. The metal finish is original and in very good shape. There is no rust or any pitting on this gun. The stocks are in very fine condition, free of cracks or chips, and showing only a few handling marks. The varnish appears to be original. Mechanically, this Model 21 is in excellent shape and locks up solidly with the top lever still well right of center. The trigger, selector, ejectors, and safety all work perfectly. The bores are also in excellent shape, both mirror bright with no pitting, dents or bulges. This desirable American classic comes with a Cody Museum letter that shows factory records indicate this gun was shipped as a 20-gauge Field grade gun with 28" barrels, single trigger, selective ejectors, pistol grip stock & Beavertail forend. The letter shows the gun was special ordered on November 3, 1948 and the final inspection was completed on November 22, 1948.
