Here's a very nice pre-64 Winchester Model 70 Featherweight rifle. Chambered for the desirable .243 Winchester cartridge, it wears the light contour 22" barrel.
There is absolutely no rust or any pitting. The checkered walnut stock is also in excellent condition, free of cracks or chips and showing only a few handling marks. The wood has never been sanded, refinished, or glass bedded and the original varnish rates 97-98%. Even the buttplate retains nearly all of its original finish.
The bolt is properly serial numbered and matching to the receiver. The mechanics are in perfect working order and the bore is like new. The serial number places this rifle in early 1959 production.
